In an unprecedented escalation, the Deputy Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Lieutenant General Abdul Rahim Dagalo, declared that Sudan is entering a decisive phase of conflict, with RSF troops advancing into the Northern and River Nile states. In a fiery speech, he emphasized that war has become necessary to eradicate what he called “terrorism supported by known countries,” announcing an urgent mobilization of one million soldiers for the complete liberation of Sudan.

Preparing for a Decisive Battle
Dagalo’s speech marked a major shift in RSF strategy. He firmly stated that there will be no further negotiations, saying: “We have closed the door to dialogue, we will not negotiate with Burhan, and we will not sell the blood of our martyrs.” He added that the battle will extend to Port Sudan, Shendi, Atbara, and Dongola, stressing that RSF forces will not stop until they achieve “total liberation” of Sudan.
In a significant military buildup, Dagalo oversaw the graduation of 20,000 new troops, demonstrating RSF’s readiness to expand its operations. For the first time, he announced the urgent mobilization of one million soldiers, signaling the transformation of RSF from a militia into a mass armed movement capable of imposing a new reality on Sudan.
Rejecting Dialogue, Pushing for “Sudan’s Liberation”
Regarding peace talks, Dagalo accused the military-led government of obstructing negotiations. He asserted that RSF had initially sought peace in Jeddah, but “the Islamists do not want peace.” He blamed General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan for sabotaging the Geneva talks and rejecting any settlement. In a direct challenge, Dagalo declared: “We will uproot Port Sudan from Burhan, and we will leave him powerless.”
He also reaffirmed that Sudan’s future government must be built on public support and the end of what he called “the state of war and oppression.”
Neutralizing Airpower and Preparing for “Man-to-Man” Combat
One of Dagalo’s most striking claims was that RSF has completely neutralized the Sudanese Armed Forces’ airpower. He assured his troops that future battles would be fought “man to man.” Additionally, he announced the arrival of new “air defense capabilities,” hinting at external military support that could shift the balance on the battlefield.
A War Without Limits
Dagalo dismissed claims that RSF is weakening, stating: “We have an endless supply of fighters, while the Islamists are drowning in their own failures.” He also issued a direct challenge to his adversaries, saying: “We will meet in Port Sudan, Atbara, Shendi, Hajar al-Asal, and Qandto.”
Towards a “New Sudan”?
Closing his speech with a bold declaration, Dagalo chanted: “A new Sudan is rising… the old Sudan is collapsing.” He vowed to restore the legacy of the Mahdist revolution, portraying RSF’s struggle as a historic fight against Sudan’s traditional military establishment. Confident of a swift victory, he declared: “This war won’t last long. We will crush our enemies, and no one can stand in our way.”
The Next Battle: Redrawing Sudan’s Future?
As RSF expands its operations toward the north and prepares for a decisive confrontation, Sudan is on the brink of a major power shift. Will Dagalo succeed in establishing the “New Sudan” he envisions, or will the conflict spiral into an even more complex and brutal chapter?
