Amid the ongoing challenges facing Sudan since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023, an initiative to form “The Peace Government” has emerged in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This initiative aims to fill the administrative void, provide essential services to citizens, and promote stability and peace.

Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, Chairman of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front and leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement - Transitional Council, stated that “The Peace Government” was established to address the urgent need for governance in conflict-affected areas and to deliver essential services to the population. Idris also noted that the initiative has received guarantees and support from several countries for its recognition, strengthening its legitimacy and capacity to achieve its objectives.

“The Peace Government” includes a coalition of political and armed factions, such as the Justice and Equality Movement, the Sudan Liberation Forces Gathering, and the Sudan Liberation Movement - Transitional Council, along with the RSF. This alliance aims to unify efforts for peace and stability in Sudan, with an open political charter welcoming all parties, including the Sudanese Armed Forces, to join.

The initiative seeks to end the war through dialogue and negotiation, prioritizing peaceful solutions over military escalation. Supporters of “The Peace Government” emphasize that their primary goal is to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid while working toward a lasting peace in Sudan.

In this context, the formation of “The Peace Government” represents a bold move toward stabilizing Sudan by offering a civilian alternative to meet the needs of people in war-affected areas. With international support and strong internal commitment, this initiative has the potential to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and set the country on a path toward peace and sustainable development.
