The General Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugee Camps in Sudan has accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of using chemical weapons during an airstrike on Shangil Tobayi in North Darfur. According to the Coordination’s statement, the attack resulted in serious injuries to five displaced persons, the destruction of infrastructure and civilian homes, and cases of poisoning among residents, raising further concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region.

The Coordination strongly condemned the military airstrikes targeting civilians and called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop these violations.
These accusations come amid escalating violence in Darfur, with growing reports of the use of brutal warfare tactics against civilians by both the army and rival forces, sparking warnings of a worsening humanitarian crisis.
It is important to note that the use of chemical weapons is internationally banned under the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention, and any potential use in Sudan could lead to international investigations and widespread condemnation.
As the conflict rages on, attention turns to the global community and its willingness to take concrete steps to halt violations and protect civilians in Darfur.
