Today, Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, Governor of the Blue Nile Region, inaugurated a new branch of the Savings and Social Development Bank in Roseries, the capital of Roseries County. This initiative aims to strengthen economic development and enhance financial stability for residents of the region.


Official Attendance and Government Support for the Banking Sector


The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Awadallah Babiker, Director of the Investment Department at the Savings and Social Development Bank, representing the General Manager, along with several members of the regional government, leaders of security agencies, representatives of civil society organizations, and Dr. Farah Ibrahim Al-Aqar, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance.


In his address at the ceremony, the Governor of the Blue Nile Region expressed his appreciation for the entities that contributed to the establishment of the new bank branch, highlighting the role of the local administration in Roseries County in supporting the project. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving services across all counties to achieve lasting stability and sustainable development.


Boosting Investment and Supporting the Local Economy


The governor emphasized the need to expand banking and financial services by opening additional bank branches in Roseries and other counties. He encouraged citizens to benefit from the new banking services by opening accounts and supporting the local economy.


Additionally, he stressed the importance of standing in solidarity with the armed forces to uphold peace and stability in the region. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing key infrastructure projects, particularly the Northern Rural Road project.


Strategic Plan for Economic Recovery and Poverty Alleviation


The governor stated that the regional government aims to achieve economic recovery and poverty alleviation by 2030, leveraging the region’s abundant natural resources. He also urged stakeholders to settle outstanding debts owed to the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, ensuring continued agricultural financing and economic growth.


Furthermore, he directed the Ministries of Finance and Social Welfare to enhance collaboration with the Savings and Social Development Bank, aligning efforts to achieve economic and social development objectives. He also called on local community leaders to support grassroots reconciliation initiatives and contribute to the reconstruction and development of the capital and other states across the country.


The Bank’s Role in Financing Development Projects


Mr. Abbas Abdullah Kara, Minister of Finance of the Blue Nile Region, underscored the bank’s crucial role in funding development projects, noting that the government’s strategic plan includes the cultivation of one million acres of cotton as part of a broader social development program aimed at ensuring security, stability, and improved healthcare services.


Meanwhile, Mr. Dawood Idris Dawood, Minister of Social Welfare and Development, reiterated his ministry’s commitment to supporting partnerships that enhance social development programs. He also highlighted the bank’s efforts to expand financial inclusion and geographical outreach, particularly in rural areas.


Community Endorsement of the Initiative


Several key figures spoke at the event, including Roseries County Governor, Chief Khalid Al-Rashid Abu Shotal, Dr. Youssef Othman Idris, Director of the Central Bank of Sudan’s Regional Branch, and Mr. Fath Al-Rahman Al-Ameen, Director of the Savings and Social Development Bank in Roseries County. Additionally, Mr. Azhari Madani, a representative of community organizations, praised the initiative, emphasizing its potential to stimulate economic activity and provide financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
