Today, Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, Governor of the Blue Nile Region, inaugurated a new branch of the Savings and Social Development Bank in Roseries, marking a significant step towards strengthening banking services, supporting economic development, and ensuring financial stability for the region’s residents.


Wide Participation and Official Support


The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Awadallah Babiker, Director of the Investment Department at the Savings and Social Development Bank, representing the General Manager, along with several members of the regional government, leaders of security agencies, representatives of civil society organizations, and Dr. Farah Ibrahim Al-Aqar, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance.


In his speech, the Governor of the Blue Nile Region expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the success of this project, commending the local administration in Roseries County for its support in advancing economic and social development. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving public services across all counties, contributing to long-term stability and sustainable development.


Expanding Banking Services and Encouraging Investment


The governor emphasized the importance of expanding banking services by opening additional branches to stimulate the local economy and encourage investment. He urged citizens to take advantage of banking services by opening accounts and supporting productive projects, which would contribute to strengthening both the local and national economies.


Additionally, he underscored the need to support the armed forces in ensuring security and stability in the region, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure projects, particularly the Northern Rural Road project, which is a top development priority for local communities.


A Strategic Plan for Sustainable Economic Growth


The governor stated that the regional government has adopted a strategic plan to eliminate poverty by 2030, leveraging the region’s abundant natural resources. He also highlighted the necessity of settling outstanding debts owed to the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, ensuring the continuity of agricultural financing as a cornerstone of economic growth.


Furthermore, he directed the Ministries of Finance and Social Welfare to strengthen cooperation with the Savings and Social Development Bank to achieve their shared development goals. He also called on local community leaders to support grassroots reconciliation programs and contribute to the reconstruction and development of the capital and other states, reinforcing national integration.


The Bank’s Role in Supporting Development Projects


Mr. Abbas Abdullah Kara, Minister of Finance of the Blue Nile Region, emphasized the bank’s pivotal role in financing major development projects, noting that the government’s plans include cultivating one million acres of cotton as part of a broader social development initiative aimed at achieving security, stability, and improved healthcare services.


Similarly, Mr. Dawood Idris Dawood, Minister of Social Welfare and Development, reiterated his ministry’s commitment to supporting partnerships that foster social development. He emphasized the bank’s focus on expanding financial inclusion, particularly in rural areas, to promote comprehensive development.


Community Support for the Initiative


Several key figures spoke at the event, including Roseries County Governor, Chief Khalid Al-Rashid Abu Shotal, Dr. Youssef Othman Idris, Director of the Central Bank of Sudan’s Regional Branch, and Mr. Fath Al-Rahman Al-Ameen, Director of the Savings and Social Development Bank in Roseries County.


Additionally, Mr. Azhari Madani, a representative of local community organizations, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to stimulate economic activity and provide financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
